The Journey to 141lbs

So on June 27th I competed in the 2009 WKA Muay Thai National Championships in the light welterweight class (140.8lbs). This was my first time cutting a full 20lbs, so I was nervous about putting the weight back on and having my full strength. There weren't many competitors in my division, so I only had one fight for the title. It was a grueling fight though. I'm pretty sure my endurance was affected by the weight cut because I remember everything in the fight being more dramatic, and I remember being extremely exhausted. Looking back at the video, Nothing was really as I remember it, so I don't think I can do a play by play of the fight. Some things to note. At some point in round 1 I got smacked direct in the nose and it was bleeding profusely for hours after the fight. Halfway through round 2, I remember thinking I had a knockout opportunity, but looking back, I wasn't even close. By round 3 I was fighting for energy, and just barely getting by, hence why I keep getting stuck in the clinch for a few knees before popping back out.

Even though I can't do a play-by-play, here is the video for you viewing pleasure:

Me vs Shane Donahue(Daddis gym):
Win by Unanimous decision (29-28)

*** Edit 7/24/2009 *** I wanted to give props to the to the amazing videographer and his 1080p video camera that made reliving this experience in all its HD video glory possible, Frank Wiot.
